COVID-19

We are pleased to announce that Sound Cyclists has resumed rides. The plan is to start slowly at first, gradually returning to where we were prior to the onset of the Covid-19 virus. We have developed rules and guidelines for opening the club rides. We ask all members to follow the rules. The guidelines are strongly advised suggestions that will make participation in club rides easier for all of us. All rides must comply with the State of Connecticut Covid-19 guidelines.

New Rules for Riding

  • If you are not feeling well, stay home or ride alone.
  • Register online for club rides. Riders should register in advance to allow the ride leader to find a second ride leader if there is a large group. Online Registration is open up until the ride start time.
  • There is no ‘sign-in’ at the start of the ride. The ride leader will simply check off the names of those in attendance. If someone is unable to register in advance, they may send a text to the ride leader.
  • Riders should come prepared with a cue sheet or the course loaded on their bike computer. Check the club ride library or RideWithGPS.com.
  • At all times, riders should maintain proper social distancing of six feet both on and off the bike. Wearing of masks and other face covering during club rides are at the discretion of the individual rider.

New Riding Guidelines

  • Carry a bandana, face mask or other face covering in case you need to go to store, etc.
  • On longer rides, plan ahead for places to use restroom.
  • Consider carrying extra water or food.
  • Be aware that many people are outside riding, running or walking nowadays, especially near water, beaches, trails or parks.
  • Consider riding in early morning hours to avoid crowds.
  • Consider selecting routes that avoid areas of recreational activity such as Compo and Southport beaches. Consider riding north of the Merritt Parkway.
